WoundCentrics, LLC, located in New Braunfels, Texas has announced that it has entered into a Management Services Agreement with Memorial Health University Medical Center (MHUMC) in Savannah, Georgia, a part of HCA Healthcare.

MHUMC Savannah has 665 licensed beds, is a level 1 trauma center, and is the largest Hospital system in Savannah providing healthcare services in 35 counties in Southeastern Georgia and Southern South Carolina. The Outpatient Wound & Hyperbaric Center began providing services under WoundCentrics management on October 1, 2021.

“We are pleased to be able to provide our wound care management services in partnership with HCA Healthcare and the clinical and administrative leadership teams at MHUMC,” shared Stuart Oertli, WoundCentrics' Chief Operating Officer.

WoundCentrics, a full-service wound care company based in New Braunfels, Texas, has announced that it has signed Agreements to provide wound care services to four (4) area skilled nursing homes in the Corbin, Kentucky area owned by the Forcht Group of Lexington, KY.

WoundCentrics currently provides inpatient wound care services to the Baptist ContinueCARE Hospital and the outpatient Wound Care Center at Baptist Corbin Hospital, Corbin, Kentucky.

The four area nursing home facilities that a WoundCentrics wound care specialist will provide wound care services to include:

  • The Heritage Nursing & Rehabilitation, Corbin, KY

  • Hillcrest Health & Rehabilitation Center, Corbin, KY

  • Williamsburg Health and Rehabilitation Center, Williamsburg, Ky

  • Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center, Barbourville, KY

These skilled nursing homes, in addition to the Somerset, Ky facility that WoundCentrics currently services, make a total of five area nursing homes that WoundCentrics contracts with for wound care. WoundCentrics also provides wound care services for the Baptist Wound Care Center, giving WoundCentrics the largest and strongest wound care presence in the southeast Kentucky market.

WoundCentrics has announced that prominent Corpus Christi physical medicine and rehabilitation physician Susan Tower, MD, MBA will begin seeing wound care patients at Regional Wound Care of Corpus Christi, a WoundCentrics facility, in July. Dr. Tower has served as a medical director for WoundCentrics for the past seven years.

Dr. Tower relocated to Corpus Christi in 2006 from Longview, Texas to start her practice in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, providing services in several area hospitals, with the Christus Spohn Health system being the primary focus of her practice. Starting July 1, Dr. Tower will be the Medical Director for outpatient wound care and hyperbaric medicine at Regional Wound Care and Hyperbarics, located at 1533 5th St, Corpus Christi, TX 78404.

Dr. Tower did her undergraduate work at the University of Pennsylvania and subsequently graduated with a medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania. She has Wound Care Certification (WCC) through the National Alliance of Wound Care and holds a Diabetic Wound Care Certification from the same organization. In 2014 she earned an Executive Healthcare Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Christus Santa Rosa San Marcos Hospital and WoundCentrics have announced that Eduardo Sandoval, M.D., MBA will become the new medical director at the outpatient Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center. 

Dr. Sandoval has a background in both Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine and has served as the medical director for the WoundCentrics’ wound care and hyperbaric medicine program in West Monroe, Louisiana prior to accepting his new role in San Marcos. 

Dr. Sandoval is an El Paso, Texas native. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from The University of Texas at El Paso. He then attended medical school at Texas Tech University, graduating in 2014.  He studied surgery at the University of Connecticut Health Sciences Center as well as the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Philadelphia from 2014 to 2016.  He completed his Family Medicine Residency at Yuma Regional Medical Center in 2020. He subsequently completed the Alteon Health Emergency Medicine Fellowship and is pending board certification.  

Dr. Sandoval will begin serving in his new role as medical director for the outpatient wound care and hyperbaric medicine center when WoundCentrics assumes the program oversight and management on July 1, 2021.

Dr. Robert P. “Bud” Thompson, Jr., MD, FACS, CHCQM has joined the WoundCentrics medical staff and wound care team at the Christus Santa Rosa Medical Center Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center.  Dr. Thompson began working for WoundCentrics May 10, 2021 and will be responsible for the clinical management of both the outpatient and inpatient advanced wound care programs at the Christus Medical Center Hospital.

Dr. Thompson will begin accepting patients May 25th in the Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center and is already available to assist with inpatient wound care consults.  He recently completed his onboarding at Wound Care University in New Braunfels, Texas at the WoundCentrics corporate offices.  With an extensive background as a General Surgeon, Dr. Thompson has been managing surgical wounds his entire career and more recently an increasing number of diabetic wounds.

Dr. Thompson relayed, “I am looking forward to working with WoundCentrics and their existing team of wound care experts to begin specializing more deeply in advanced wound care techniques.”

Dr. Thompson was most recently employed as a General Surgeon by the Seton Surgical Group in Kyle, Texas for the past 8 years.  Prior to that, he was a General Surgeon based in the Texas Medical Center in Houston and nearby Brazosport Hospital in Lake Jackson, Texas beginning in 1990.

He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and completed his General Surgery Internship and Residency at The Stamford Hospital, Stamford, Connecticut.  He completed clinical surgical rotations at Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Babies Hospital at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, both affiliated with New York Medical College.

The CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Medical Center Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center has been managed by WoundCentrics for the past 12 years. WoundCentrics employs a multidisciplinary team of professionals, providing the most advanced, state-of-the-art treatment currently available for chronic non-healing wounds.

WoundCentrics, LLC, of New Braunfels, Texas, announced they have signed a Management Services Agreement to manage the inpatient and outpatient wound care programs at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital San Marcos. The Agreement will be the fourth Christus Santa Rosa System Hospital to partner with WoundCentrics, joining New Braunfels, San Antonio Medical Center and Westover Hills.

WoundCentrics will begin providing management services in July at the San Marcos Hospital. The comprehensive approach to advanced wound care management includes medical staff, corporate clinical support, nursing and hyperbaric staff, compliance and business support personnel. The outpatient Center for Advanced Wound Healing will expand its operations from three to five days a week. The WoundCentrics providers and nursing team will be available daily as needed for inpatient wound care as well.
